Bernette Catherine Johnson
15 October 1918 ---- 2 February 1973

Bernette Catherine Johnson was born October 15, 1918, at Badger, Iowa, the daughter of Charley and Bessie Nelson Johnson.

She attended school in Badger, and grew up in that area. She was employed as a nurses aide for many years, working in Chicago, Ill., five years and in Minneapolis, Minn. for seventeen years; and also in Des Moines.

She has been living in Eagle Grove for the past seven years, and was employed at the Rotary Ann Home of Eagle Grove.

Bernette died in the explosion of the Coast-To-Coast store and Chatter Box Cafe buildings in Eagle Grove on February 2, 1973, at the age of 54 years, three months, and 17 days.

She is survived by her parents, two brothers, Charles Johnson, Eagle Grove and, Richard Johnson, Racine, Wisc.; and three sisters: Ethel, Mrs. Art Tesdal; Emily, Mrs. Carl Long; and Genevieve, Mrs. Marvin Hamer all of Eagle Grove.

Bernette was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held on Monday February 5, at 10 a.m. in the Samuel Lutheran Church. Pastor Marvin L. Dooley officiated and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.
