Lawrence Harris Benton
27 May 1892 ---- 7 May 1944

Lawrence H. Benton died early Sunday morning, May 7th in a Fort Dodge hospital where he had been a patient for almost a week following an operation.

Mr. Benton has been a resident of Eagle Grove for the past twelve years and was employed until the time of his illness at Roper Hardware.

He is survived by his wife, and three sons, Cpl. Delmar Benton of Camp Sibert, Ala., Raymond Benton, with the armed forces, and William of Dalles, Ore., also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Benton of this city, and five brothers, Frank of Eagle Grove, Rev. Thos. H. of Bloomington, Ill., Leon J. of Holmes, Earl E. of Dows, and James A. of Rowan. Brief services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Benton at 1:30 due to the serious illness of Mr. Benton’s mother, and at 2 o’clock the funeral service was held at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. L. M. Wilkinson. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Obituary

Lawrence H. Benton was born to Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Benton, May 27, 1892 in Estill Co., Kentucky. He was baptized in the Christian church at McLean, Ill., when a small boy. During his 12 years in Eagle Grove, he has attended the Congregational church.

Tudor; Mrs. Eli Pearl, Mrs. C. J. Brinkman of Belmond; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Swaford, Mrs. Harley Graves, Rev. Tom Benton and daughter, Mrs. Betty Crone of Bloomington, Ill.; T/5 Tom Delmar Benton of Cap Sibert, Ala.
