Barbara Ellen Michaels Beckholt
10 November 1842 ---- 22 December 1925

The death of Mrs. Barbara Ellen Beckholt occurred at her home in this city Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1925. She was the aged and respected mother of the Beckholt boys of this city, John, Will and Clarence.

The many friends of the bereaved children extend their sincere sympathy in the hour of their great sorrow. She was an excellent home maker and an ideal mother.

Barbara Ellen Michaels was born in Muskingum county, Ohio, Nov. 10, 1842 and passed to her eternal reward at Eagle Grove, Iowa, Dec. 22, 1925 at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 12 days.

She moved with her parents to Shelby county, Illinois, in 1865, making the trip in a covered wagon. She was united in marriage with Mathias Beckholt in Shelbyville, Ill., in 1869. She returned with him to Knox county, Ohio, and lived there 12 years, coming west again in 1886 to Assumption, Ill. From there she moved with her family to Wright county, Iowa in 1900, where they settled upon a farm and in 1910 moved to Eagle Grove, where she lived until the time of her passing in death. To this union were born seven children, two having preceded her in death, Mrs. Myrtle Fisher on Aug. 27, 1914, and Daisy Beckholt on June 11, 1925.

Very early in life Mrs. Beckholt accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Baptist church. Her faith was steadfast in her redeemer to the very last, requesting of her family that she might have an old funeral such as she remembered in the days of her youth, with no flowers or undue eulogies.

She leaves to mourn her death four sons, W. J. Beckholt, J. E. Beckholt and wife, C. Beckholt and wife, all of Eagle Grove, Iowa, J. F. Beckholt and wife of San Fernando, Calif., one daughter, Mrs. Will Kurtz, and husband, of Worthington, S.D., seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and other relatives and a host of friends.
