Funeral services for Alice Maude Beer, 94,
were held from the Dows Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 23, 1986 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. John Mann officiated and burial followed at the Dows Fairview Cemetery. The Willim Funeral Home in Dows was in charge of arrangements.

Maude was born on January 16, 1892 in Galt and was the daughter of William L. Stuck and Anna L. Jay. At the age of 2 the family moved to Grundy Center and returned to Wright County in 1899. She attended school in Galt and after graduating she taught in rural schools. She married Benjamin E. Rice on March 25, 1915 at Clarion and on December 20, 1918 he died. She later married Henry Taylor Beer on October 29, 1925. In 1928 they moved to Galt where they farmed. They retired in 1947 to Eagle Grove and in 1975 they moved to Dows. He died in 1975 and in July of 1984, Maude moved to the Dows Care Center.

She died Saturday, June 21, 1986 at the Dows Care Center and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George (Maxine) Dutton of Osage and Mrs. Bluferd (Marcine) Cooper of Dows; one stepson, Elmer Beer of Iowa Falls; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Zelda Harson of Clarion. Her parents, two husbands, two brothers, one sister and one granddaughter preceded her in death.
