The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon, January 26, 1944 at the Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Hazel Jetmund. The church was filled. The funeral was in charge of the pastor, Rev. M.L. Blake assisted by Rev. R.A. Brough. Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery. The following brief sketch of the life of the deceased was read by Rev. Brough:
Hazel Sanders, daughter of Eldon and Bessie Sanders, was born at Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota May 20, 1919. When she was six months old, the family moved Welkville, Missouri where they lived for two years. They came to live in Dows which has been her home ever since. She received her education in the Dows schools, graduating in 1936 from Dows High School and afterward attending Iowa State Teacher's College at Iowa Falls. She was the popular and efficient teacher of Oakland No. 2 school in Franklin County for two years.
Her marriage to Raymond Jetmund took place June 1, 1939. They continued to make their home in Dows until the spring of 1942 when Mr. Jetmund enlisted in the Seabees and served for a year on the Aleutian Islands and later the west coast. Mrs. Jetmund was able to be with her husband the last five months of his service on the west coast. They both came home about the middle of December and Mr. Jetmund soon returned to his duties on the coast and was immediately assigned to duty in Hawaii. He traveled the long distance to be present at the funeral.
Those who survive are her husband, Raymond Jetmund; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Sanders; her sister, Mrs. Fred Turner and sons Ralph and Julian of Belmond and her grandmother, Mrs. J.W. Cronch of Fort Morgan, Colorado.
