Andrew Olson Is Killed When His Car Leaves Road And Throws Him Into Field On Day Before Christmas

Andrew Olson, 44, was killed accidentally sometime Friday night when his car left the highway and threw him into the nearby field. His body was discovered about 3:20 a. m. Saturday, December 24 by Earl Odland of Holmes.

Olson had been attending the sale in Kanawha that day and was on his way to his farm home northeast of Eagle Grove. The accident happened about 3½ miles north of Holmes.

Sheriff Roy Wilson and Coroner R. A. Young were called to the scene. Young pronounced the death as accidental, stating that death was caused by injuries received and not from exposure as had been reported. Sheriff Wilson said the body had been thrown 72 yards into the field from the car.

Funeral services were held at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church Tuesday, December 27 with Rev. K. R. Torvik officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. Olson's family consists of his wife and five children all living.

Obituary

Andrew Olson, born February 11, 1905, to Halvor and Pauline Olson in Tjelta near Stavanger, Norway, died in an automobile accident north of Holmes, December 24, 1919, at the age of 44 years, 10 months and 13 days.

He was baptised as an infant, and confirmed his Christian faith in confirmation as a youth in Norway.

At the age of 18 he came to America, and on February 25, 1928 was married to Jennie Pederson by the Rev. Peder Ljestvedt. They resided near Kanawha until this last March when they moved with their family to their present home northeast of Eagle Grove.

Mr. Olson is survived by his wife Jennie, and their five children: Helen, Mildred of Des Moines, Alvin, Kenneth and Vivian. Also surviving him are his mother, five brothers and one sister in Norway, and three brothers and one sister in this country. Chris of Galt, Helmich of Superior, Wis., Karl of Chicago, and Pauline (Mrs. Erick Ohman) also of Chicago. His father and two brothers preceded him in death. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.
