Melvin H. Minikis funeral Tuesday p.m.

Funeral services for Melvin H. Minikis, farmer of near Thor, were held Tuesday afternoon in the Thor Lutheran Church. Rev. Marlin Ingebretson officiated and burial was in the Newark Township Cemetery near Vincent.

Mr. Minikis had a sudden heart attack at his home Saturday night and was taken to Bethesda General hospital where he died a short time later.

He is survived by his wife, one son Larry Eugene, two daughters Jayne Ann and Lisa. Also surviving are two brothers Paul of Eagle Grove, Harold of Fort Dodge, and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Baldwin of Des Moines, Mrs. Dale Messerly of Duncombe, and Mrs. Edgar Spinzig of Warren, N.J.

Obituary
Melvin Henry Minikis was born August 18, 1921, in Newark Township, Webster County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Charius Minikis. He was baptised and confirmed in the Methodist Church, was educated in the country schools, and grew to adulthood in this area. On June 4, 1944, he was united in marriage to Clarise Kvale of Eagle Grove, at Eagle Grove. The couple became the parents of three children: a son, Larry Eugene, and two daughters, Jayne Ann and Lisa Michelle. Mr. and Mrs. Minikis made their home on farms in the Vincent and Goldfield area before moving to their farm near Thor, where he was engaged in farming at the time of his death.

He was stricken with a heart attack at his home Saturday evening, May 16, and was taken to Bethesda General Hospital at Ft. Dodge. At the time of his death, he was 48 years, 8 months, and 28 days old.

He is survived by his wife Clarise and his three children, all of Thor; two brothers, Paul Minikis, Eagle Grove; Harold Minikis, Ft. Dodge; and three sisters: Mrs. Anne Baldwin, Des Moines; Bernice, Mrs. Dale Messerly, Duncombe; Delores, Mrs. Edgar Spinzig, Warren, N.J. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Stella Dencklau, and one brother, William Minikis, and his parents. He was a member of the Thor Lutheran Church, having joined after his marriage.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 19, at the Thor Lutheran Church. Rev. Marlin Ingebretson officiated, and burial was in the Newark Township Cemetery near Vincent.
