Funeral services for Francis H. (Pete) Ackerman were held at the Dows Presbyterian Church on Sunday, June 28 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Terry Palmer officiating. Burial was in the Dows Fairview Cemetery. The Willim Funeral Home of Dows had charge of the arrangements.

Pete Ackerman died Thursday, June 26 at the Clarion Community Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born June 15, 1903 in Galt and was the son of Pierre and Minnie Kahler Ackerman. He grew to manhood and was educated in the Galt and Dows areas. He was married to Mabel Watt April 1, 1951 at the Presbyterian Church in Dows and since their marriage has lived in Dows. He was employed by the State of Iowa for the past 27 years, retiring in 1974.

He was a World War II veteran and was a member of the Watson Beach Post #525 of the American Legion.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Mrs. Carl (Patti Jo) Spotts of Huxley, Dan of Ames and one brother Kenneth of Rowley. He was preceded in death by his parents.
