Thursday, December 3, 1987Funeral services for Maynard Mills, 80, were held from the United Methodist Church in Dows on Saturday, November 28, 1987 at 1:30 p. m. Rev. Joan Ayers officiated and burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Dows.
The Elledge Funeral Home in Dows was in charge of arrangements.
Mary Ann Denger was the organist and Don Bosch was the soloist. Casket bearers were Borge Andersen, William Chambers, Edwin Dow, Earnest Peters, Telbert Tonderum and Bob Weir.
Maynard died Wednesday, November 25, 1987 at the Dows Care Center where he has resided for the past month.
He was born in Wright County, Iowa on May 23, 1907 to Lee and Edna Sutton Mills. He grew to manhood and received his education in Dows.
On September 7, 1926 he was united in marriage to Wava Unger at the Methodist Parsonage in Dows. They have spent their entire married lives farming in the Blaine and Vernon Township areas.
Survivors include his wife, Wava; one brother, Wayne of Whittier, California; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, held various church board offices and was a member of the Wright County ASCS.
