Funeral services for William H. Agena, 85, were held Tuesday, December 1, 1987 from First Lutheran Church in Dows at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Roger Dykstra officiated and burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Dows.

The Elledge Funeral Home in Dows was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harley Gardalen was the organist and Dennis Wesenberg sang "Amazing Grace".

Casket bearers were Dale Chambers, Duane Fanselow, Elmer Osborne, Herman and Leonard Schomburg and Duane Slining.

Bill died Friday. November 27, 1987 at Clarion Community Hospital where he had been a patient since November 16, 1987.

He was born in Engerhafe, West Germany on August 10, 1902 to Harm and Elise Bruns Agena. He received his education and grew to adulthood in West Germany. In 1928 he immigrated to the United States. On February 3, 1937 he was united in marriage to Eke Harms Wilts in Germany. For the past 50 years they have farmed in Dows.

Survivors include his wife, Eke; five children, Elise Meier of Clear Lake, Ben of Nashville, Arkansas, Marguerite Horn of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ubbo of St. Charles, Iowa and Maynard of Dows; and eight granddaughters. Also surviving are three sisters, Annette Mueller, Elise Janssen and Etta Rocker, all of Germany and one brother, Jakob, also of Germany.

His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dows where he held various church council offices and was a past member of Farm Bureau.
