Aletta (Johnson) Enge
21 February 1898 ---- 23 September 1989

KANAWHA, IA -- Mrs. Aletta Enge, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., died Saturday (Sept. 23, 1989) at the Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong of natural causes. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kanawha, with the Rev. William G. Perkins officiating. Burial will be in the Norway Township Cemetery, rural Kanawha.

Mrs. Enge was born Feb. 21, 1898, in rural Belmond to Charles and Lena (Kinde) Johnson. She received her education in rural Wright County schools and graduated from Waldorf College in Forest City. Prior to her marriage, she taught in rural schools in Wright County. On Nov. 27, 1919, she married Alvin Enge at Forest City. The couple farmed, owned and operated a service station and bulk tank and later operated a motel. In January of 1964 they moved to Fairmont, Minn.

Mr. Enge died June 16, 1964. She had been a resident of the Valley Vue Care Center since December, 1984.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Ringsted, and from noon until service time at the church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Ilene) Knapp, Ringsted, Mrs. Glenn (Phyllis) Oberg, Grand Forks, N.D., and Mrs. James (Norma) Miller, Fargo, N.D.; four sons, Arnold, of Seattle, Wash., Claire, Fairmont, Minn., Raymond, Chevy Chase, Md., and Allen, of Plymouth, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Clara Wagner, Eagle Grove; and 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers and four sisters.
