Leah I. Boyd Brophy
1 August 1894 --- 5 February 1971Services for Mrs. Leah I. Brophy, 76, were held Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the United Methodist Church at Hardy. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. The Blake Funeral Home of Renwick was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Brophy was found dead of natural causes in her home Feb. 5. Surviving are three daughters and a son, Mrs. Earl Angle, Burt; Mrs. Joseph Olsieski, Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Richard Kopp, Fort Dodge; Junior Brophy, Missouri Valley; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Leah I. Boyd was born in Boone. She married William Brophy at Algona in 1917 and the couple lived at Kanawha until coming to the Hardy area in 1938. Mr. Brophy died in 1954. Mrs. Brophy was a member of the WSCS and the T-4-U Club.

Mrs. Leah I. Brophy, 76, was found dead of natural causes at her home Saturday, Feb. 6. Surviving are three daughters and a son, Mrs. Earl (Ella Ruth) Angle of Burt; Mrs, Joseph Olsieski (Evelyn) of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Richard (Lois Ann) Kopp of Fort Dodge; and Junior Brophy of Missouri Valley, Iowa.
Leah I. Boyd was born at Boone, Iowa, She married William Brophy at Algona in 1917 and they lived at Kanawha until coming to Hardy in 1938. Mr. Brophy died in 1954. Also preceding her in death was a son, Ray Brophy, who was killed in an accident several years ago; Mrs, Brophy was a member of the Hardy United Methodist Church, the Hardy Women's Society of Christian Service of which she was a charter member, and the T-4-U Club.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hardy United Methodist Church with burial in the Vernon Township Cemetery. Clergyman was the Rev. George Den Hartog. Music was furnished by Mrs, Marshall Clancy and Mrs. Dick S. Hefty. They sang "In My Heart There Rings A Melody" and "In The Garden." The organist was Mrs. Dale Kitley. Casket bearers were Donald Brayton, Olaf Kleveland, Cledis Anderson, Raymond Amerson, Arnold Amerson and Gerald Rasmussen.
