Ivan Dewey Anderson
9 November 1898 --- 6 January 1970

Ivan Dewey Anderson was born November 9, 1898, at Boone, Iowa, the son of Adolph and Carolyn Anderson. He received his education in the Eagle Grove schools. He became employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad,as a young man, and worked as a machinist for the railroad until retiring in 1958 because of ill health. He had received a lapel pin denoting 45 years with the International Machinists Association. Ivan was united in marriage to Irma Donly of Eagle Grove, at Eagle Grove, on July 9, 1922. The couple then lived in Waukegan, Ill. for six years, Boone, Iowa for 21 years, and returned to Eagle Grove in 1950.

They had become the parents of four sons, all of whom survive. They are, Delvere Anderson, Boone; Daryl Anderson, Boone; Russell Anderson, Moorhead, Minn., and Ronald Anderson, Santa Ana, Calif.

Ivan was taken to the Mercy Hospital on January 5, 1970 and died there on January 6. At the time of his death he was 71 years, 1 month, and 27 days of age.

He is survived by his father, Adolph Anderson, Eagle Grove; his wife, Irma; four sons and five grandchildren; also one brother, Harlan Anderson; of St. Ansgar and two sisters, Elsie (Mrs. Clarence Orr) Boone and Ione (Mrs. Jake Zeigler) Laurens; He was preceded in death by his mother.

He was a member of the Eagle Grove Methodist church and the International Association of Machinists.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 8, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Donald Forbes officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove.
