C. T. KNUTS0N FOUND DEAD IN HIS BED

Death Occurred Wednesday Morning Between 8 and 9:30 O'clock. Difficulty Locating Relatives.

Chris T. Knutson, 69, was found dead in his bed at the James Sterling residence about 10 o’clock Wednesday morning. He was known to have been alive [unreadable]. Mr. Sterling went into his room and found him sleeping comfortably and about 10 o’clock he re-entered the room and found that he had passed on.

Mr. Knutson. who was unmarried, was reticent about his personal affairs and it is not known whether or not he has any living relatives. He came to Eagle Grove about 15 years ago to continue work for the Northwestern Railroad in the signal maintenance department. He was pensioned hi December of 1937. He was born in August, 1872. The place of his birth is unknown. Since coming to Eagle Grove, he has roomed at the Sterling residence. From time to time he made many generous gifts of checks and money to various local people and contributed a check of $100 annually to the relief committees at Christmas time.

No funeral arrangements have been made at this time, pending result of efforts to locate next of kin.

The body is at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home. Anyone knowing the address of any of Mr. Knutson's relatives is asked to get in touch with Joe Gunderson, James H. Sterling, or Atty. John Henneberry, all of Eagle Grove.

STATE MAY GET PROCEEDS OF C. T. KNUTSON ESTATE

Appraised Assets, $27, 673.85; Joe Gunderson Appointed Administrator, John Henneberry, Att’y.

The late Chris Knutson who died last week Wednesday, apparently left no will. No relatives have been located. Joe Gunderson has been appointed administrator of the estate and John Henneberry, attorney.

An appraisal of his estate was made Tuesday which reveals assets totaling $27, 673.85. Of this amount $19,804.)8 was in cash or government bonds. He owned a residence property in Council Bluffs, the value of which was placed at $4000. The summary of the assets which were filed with the clerk of the courts is as follows:

In addition, was an Elgin watch and a gold band ring. The house was acquired through foreclosure proceedings. The Milwaukee bank book showed deposits of $10,000 as of June 1st, 1941.

In the event no relatives are located and no will is found, the proceeds of the estate will go to the state school fund.
