Hans Bendik (Ben) Knutson was born in Haugesund, Norway, December 5, 1864 and died at Lutheran hospital, Ft. Dodge, Friday March 6, at the age of 88 years and 3 months. He was baptised and confirmed in Norway and immigrated to the United States in 1887 at the age of 22. He came directly to Eagle Grove and has resided in Wright County ever since. He worked as a farmer most of the time, until he moved to Eagle Grove about 20 years ago. In 1939 he bought his present home. He never married. Closest of kin, his nephew, John W. Knutsen of Brooklyn, N. Y. who was with his uncle these last days of his life and who is present at this funeral service. His brother, Gunner J. Knutsen, father of John, preceded him in death by more than fifty years. Another brother Mikal Knutson, died at Eagle Grove in Eagle Grove in 1934.

Funeral services were at Wilson Funeral Chapel Sunday, March 8, 1953, at 2:30, the Rev. Kenneth R. Torvik. pastor of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating Mrs. C. Stansbury served as organist and Mrs. Willis Chapman, as soloist. Interment follows at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Last Rites For H. B. Knutson Sunday

Hans B. Knutson died in Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge, Friday following a short illness.

Funeral services were held at Wilson's Chapel, Sunday afternoon, in charge of Rev. Kenneth Torvlk, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Hans Sexse, John Halvorson, Hans Peterson, Bert Toresdahl, John Carlson and Lars Egesdal.

Mr. Knutson was born in Haugesund, Norway, on Dec. 5, 1864, and was 88 years of age at the time of his death. He immigrated to the United States when he was twenty-two and came directly to Eagle Grove and had made his home in this vicinity from that time.

He is survived by one nephew John W. Knutson who is with the Norwegian-American Shipping Lines in Brooklyn, N. Y. Mr. Knutson came here last week to be with his uncle during his last illness, and remained until after the funeral.
