March 7, 1905 --- August 4, 1951

Swardrup “Ed” Knutson, son of Eric and Selle Knutson, was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on March 7, 1905 and passed away from this life on Saturday, August 4, 1951, having reached the age of 46 years, 4 months and 27 days.

He attended public schools in Eagle Grove and graduated with the class of 1926. He was baptized in the fancy and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith on Nov. 16, 1919.

He was a veteran of World War II serving his country overseas for about two years in New Guinea. He was discharged from service in 1945.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Conrad and Tandrup.

He leaves to mourn his passing three brothers, Emil of Waterloo, Iowa, Selmer and Madel of Eagle Grove, also three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Lerdal of Belmond, Iowa, Mrs. Hannah Strom and Mrs. Tillie Bard of Eagle Grove, also many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Most of his life he has worked for the Chicago & Northwestern railroad having worked before he went into the army and also after his discharge from service.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 6, 1951 at the Wilson Chapel, Eagle Grove, Iowa. Rev. Kenneth R. Torvik officiated. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery Eagle Grove. Full military rites were conducted by Clarence Shurtz Post No. 304, American Legion.
