JOS. PLETCHER PASSED AWAY

Died at the Home of His Brother John Near Florence Last Evening at 7:20

BURIAL TOMORROW

Had Been Ailing Both Mentally and Physically For Several Years.

Joseph Pletcher, who has been a resident of Wright county for about twenty-five years, died at 7:20 o'clock last evening at the home of his brother, John Pletcher, near Florence, the direct cause of his death being heart and stomach trouble. He has been ailing both mentally and physically for several years and death has now kindly released him. Mr. Pletcher was never married, but had been making his home with his brother Will near Eagle Grove. About a week ago he came to the home of his brother John and was taken seriously ill.

The deceased was born in Indiana May 19, 1856, and at the time of his death on April 23, 1913, was 56 years, 11 months and 4 days of age. About thirty years ago he came to Benton county, Iowa, and five years later to this county, where he has since made his home. Three surviving brothers reside in Wright county—John, near Florence; Will, near Eagle Grove, and Ben, near Goldfield. He is also survived by one other brother and three sisters, who live in various parts of the country.

Funeral services will be held at the John Pletcher home tomorrow at 12 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. Odell of the Eagle Grove Baptist church, of which deceased was a member. The remains will then be brought to Clarion Evergreen cemetery for interment.

The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of many friends in the loss of their loved one.

Joseph Pletcher, a well known resident of Wright county, died at the home of his brother John in Dayton township Wednesday night, April 23d. The deceased was 56 years old and single, never having been married. He leaves four brothers, three of whom reside near Goldfield. Three sisters also are left to mourn his loss. The remains were laid away Friday in Clarion Evergreen cemetery, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. Odell, Baptist minister of Eagle Grove, of whose faith Mr. Pletcher was an adherent. Never having known the joys of an earthly home of his own, this plain, honest workingman has gone to that larger home beyond, that home which we hope will someday receive us all. The fact that his brothers and sisters were so lovingly devoted to him bespeaks well his kindly disposition and staunch character. A prophet hath honor save in his own country, is a scripture ofttimes quoted, and too many times true. So when a man like Mr. Pletcher, respected by his own family and in his own community, the probability is, that he was a worthy brother and citizen of that family and community.
