Final Rites Held For Mrs. D. P. Pletcher

Died on Sunday Evening at Eagle Grove. Funeral Services Conducted Here on Tuesday Afternoon.

Mrs. D. P. Pletcher died at the home of her granddaughter at Eagle Grove on Sunday evening. Mrs. Pletcher lived in this community for a number of years and made many friends during her life here. For the past year she has made her home with her children and grandchildren.

A short funeral service was held in the Wilson Funeral chapel at Eagle Grove and the regular service in the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. I. D. Halvorsen. Interment was at Glenwood cemetery.

Obituary

Saloma S. Seal was born near Dayton, Ohio, on August 9, 1848, and peacefully passed away on Sunday evening, Jan. 7, 1934, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 28 days. When but a child she moved with her parents to Warsaw, Ind.

In June of 1867 she was married to Daniel Pletcher. To this union 17 children were born. Four died in infancy, the rest grew to manhood and womanhood. William Pletcher died in 1907 [1908]; Ottie in 1920, Oliver in 1932. Those living to mourn her departure are George of Eagle Grove; Edith Sebert, Ralph and Florence Pehl of Clarion; Annie Smith of Page, N. D.; Frank of Valley Springs, S. D.; Maggie Doty of Edmonds, Wash.; May Cleveland of Renwick; Winton of Forest City; Edna Reichter of Goldfield. Fifty-four grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also mourn her death. She also leaves her sister, Virginia Francis Seal who for many years made her home with Mrs. Pletcher and has a wide circle of friends here.

For 19 years after her marriage the family continued to live in Indiana, coming to Iowa in October 1885, settling north of Holmes. For 48 years she lived in the vicinities of Holmes, Eagle Grove and Goldfield. Mr. Pletcher preceded her in death on August 25, 1914.

At the age of 13 Mrs. Pletcher joined the United Brethren church. She joined the Holmes Baptist church upon coming to Iowa. When she moved to Goldfield she brought her membership to the Baptist church here. She was active in church work. In her home she was faithful, systematic, cheerful and uncomplaining.
