Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn L. Pletcher, 82, a former Wright county resident but more recently of Webster City, were held July 3 at the Baptist Church in Holmes, Iowa. The Reverends G. E. Hall of Goldfield and the Rev. P.R. Halverson officiated with burial being at Glenwood cemetery in Goldfield.

Mrs. Pletcher died July 1 at Crestview Manor in Webster City where she had been residing.

Evelyn L. Knight, daughter of Robert and Mary Knight, was born Dec. 3, 1888 at Holmes. She grew to young womanhood in that community and attended the Holmes Baptist Church. She was baptized there in 1903.

On Dec. 16, 1908, she was united in marriage to Ralph L. Pletcher, and the couple farmed in Lake township, Wright County for several years. They then purchased a farm in Dayton township, Wright County, in 1914 and farmed there until retiring in 1952. They then moved into Webster City and resided in a home they had purchased until 1969. Mrs. Pletcher suffered a stroke in 1966 and was cared for in her home by a daughter, Mrs. Irene Kolbeck. When both Mr. and Mrs. Pletcher’s health failed, they moved to the Kolbeck home, living there until, September 1970 when they moved to the East Lane Manor home at Jewell. Mr. Pletcher died there in November 1970.

Mrs. Pletcher moved to the Crestview Manor in Webster City where she died July 1, 1971 following another stroke.

She is survived by six daughters: Mrs. Harry (Irene) Kolbeck and Mrs. Clair (Cleo) Bosworth, both of Webster City; Mrs. William (Eura) Marrs of Oak Lawn, Ill.; Mrs. Eddie (Evea) Laurisch of Chicago, Mrs. Melvin (Eva) Peyton of Daugherty, Iowa, and Mrs. Eddie (Charlotte) Amosson of Clarion. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; two, sisters, Mrs. Walter (Ada) Jones of Goldfield and Mrs. Ruth Forster of Eagle Grove, and several aunts, uncles and other relatives.
