Funeral services for Fred Knight, 71, of Holmes were held Monday at 2 p. m. at the Holmes Baptist church in charge of Rev. Phillip Halvorsen.

Mr. Knight died of a heart attack Friday morning.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters, Orin and Linden of Holmes, Mrs. Richard Campbell of Clarion and Mrs. Avis Hoffman of Des Moines.

Fred Knight dies on Holmes Farm

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Holmes Baptist Church in charge of Rev. Phillip Halvorsen.

Fred Knight was born to Robert and Mary Ann Knight in Lake Township near Holmes, Iowa, on June 28, 1887. He departed this life at his home on Friday morning, May 22, 1959. He would have been 72 years old this June 28th. He spent his entire life within a radius of a few miles of his birth place. On January 20, 1909 he was united in marriage to Mabel Margaret Vest. To their union were born 2 boys and two girls. On this last January 20th they enjoyed a beautiful observance of their Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Memorial Hall in Eagle Grove. They spent their entire married life on one farm. He was one of the original board members for The Boone Valley Electric Cooperative, and served until just a few years ago. For many years he served on the board of The Holmes Cooperative Elevator, in fact he was on that board until the day of his death. He was also the Assessor for Lake Township for a number of years... He professed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour, and was baptized into the membership of The Holmes Baptist Church on January 228, 1906. He will be remembered as a kind, loving husband and father, and a friend ever willing to help when needed.

Those left to mourn his passing in his companion of these many years; their four children: Orlin, who lives on a farm not far from the home place; (Mrs.) Avis Huffman of Des Moines; Lyden of Dows; and Ilene (Mrs. Richard Campbell) of Clarion; nine grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs Ralph Pletcher of Webster City; Mrs. Walter Jones of Goldfield; and Mrs. Ruth Forester of Eagle Grove; together with many other relatives and friends.

Fredrick Judson Knight was born of parents Robert and Mary Knight June 28, 1887, on a farm in Lake Township. He had been a resident of Lake Township all his life. He died at his home May 22, 1959.

Mr. Knight was united in marriage to Mable Vest Jan. 20, 1909. To this union four children were born.

He served as Lake Township assessor for many years. He also served as director for Boone, Valley Electric Cooperative for several years and at the time of his death was an active board member of the Holmes Elevator.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Orlin of Clarion and Lyden of Dows: two daughters, Avis (Mrs. Avis Huffman) of Des Moines; Ilene (Mrs. Richard Campbell) of Clarion; also 9 grandchildren and three sisters Mrs. Ralph Pletcher, Webster City, Mrs. Walter Jones, Goldfield and Mrs. Ruth Forester, Eagle. Grove.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 25 at the Holmes Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Pastor Phillip Halvorsen officiated.

Casket bearers were: Karl Stecher, Norris Odland, Obed and Orville Larson, Clarence Larson and, Charles Borel. Interment was made at Goldfield Cemetery.
