The unexpected news of the death of Mrs. N. O. Corwin has caused sadness in many hearts of this locality. Mrs. Corwin had been ailing for some weeks, but not considered serious until almost the last, her death being due to pernicious anemia.

Anna J. Smith was born Aug. 31, 1871; in Washington county, Iowa, and came to Wright county, Iowa, with her parents March, 1876, where she grew to womanhood and received her education in the common schools with the exception of a year and a half spent at the State Teachers' college. Miss Smith taught several successful terms of school in Wright and Hamilton counties.

She was united in marriage to Norra O. Corwin Oct. 20, 1897, at Webster City, Iowa, and made her home near Clarion until March 1, 1906, when she moved to Wendell, Minn., and seven years later to St. Cloud, Minn., where she died at St. Raphael’s hospital at 10:10 p.m., March 24, 1917.

The deceased leaves husband, one daughter, Goldie, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Smith, two brothers, Everett and Ralph, and one sister, Mrs. W, J. Cummins of Britt Iowa, to mourn her loss. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, also of the Court of Honor.

Funeral services were held at the home of her parents, five miles south of Clarion at 10 o'clock Thursday morning, being conducted by Rev J. T. Walker of the Congregational church. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

Relatives present from a distance were Will Dayton of Keota, Iowa; Mrs. Sam Wilkins and Grace Wilkins of Cooper, Iowa, Mrs. John Calvert of Jefferson, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Will Cummins of Britt, Iowa. Contributed.
