Glenn Roy Samuels (1901-1987)

Glenn Roy Samuels was born November 28, 1901, the son of Roscoe and Celestia Knight Samuels at Goldfield. While growing up near Goldfield, he attended country school, Goldfield public school, and later graduated from Goldfield High School.

He was united in marriage to Vivian Gangstead of Humboldt County May 19, 1924 at Fort Dodge. The couple moved from Goldfield to Rolfe in 1944, then they moved in 1952 to Lynwood, Calif., where they lived for 20 years before moving back to Goldfield in 1972. Vivian Samuels died in 1973.

Glenn Samuels was a 50 year member in the Masonic Lodge, and a long-time member of the Lake Lutheran Church.

Glenn died December 20, 1987 at Hayward, Calif., after an extended illness at the age of 86 years, and 23 days.

He is survived by three sons, Duane A. of Hayward, Calif.; Robert L. of Hickory, N. C.; and Gene A. of Lynwood, Calif; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Lois) Fellows of Big Fork, Mont.; Mrs. John (Marjorie) Elm of Long Beach, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Masonic Service was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home for Glenn Samuels December 28, 1987 at 7:30 p.m. The Masonic Temple of Eagle Grove was in charge of services.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 29, 1987 at 10 a.m. at the Lake Lutheran Church, Goldfield, with burial following at Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. The Rev. Oliver Everson officiated at the morning services.

Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
