Mrs. Fred Bjornson funeral Wednesday
Mrs. Fred Bjornson, 80, died at her home north of Goldfield Monday following a long illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Presbyterian Church with burial in Glenwood Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, four sons: Donald and Earl, both of Goldfield; Orville and Fred Jr., both of Des Moines; two brothers: Elmer Nelson, Des Moines; John Nelson, Eagle Grove; a sister, Mrs. Pete Nelson, Eagle Grove; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Lena Nelson was born in Liberty Township, Wright County and attended school there. She married Fred Bjornson at Clarion in 1912 and they farmed in the Goldfield area. She was a member of the Goldfield Baptist Church until it closed a number of years ago and a member of the DOC Neighborhood Club.

Lena Nelson was born April 2, 1890, in Liberty Township, Wright County, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Hansina Hansen Nelson. She was educated in the Liberty Township school, and grew to adulthood in that area. She was united in marriage to Fred J. Bjornson of Goldfield at Clarion by Rev. C. H. VanMeter, on July 31, 1912. The couple returned to Liberty Township to make their home.

They became the parents of four sons, all of whom survive her. They are, Donald Arthur Bjornson, Goldfield; Orville Ben Bjornson, Des Moines; Merle Allen Bjornson, Goldfield; Fred J. Bjornson, Jr., Des Moines.

Mrs. Bjornson had been in ill health for about four years and passed away at her home late Monday afternoon at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 24 days. She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her husband, Fred, two brothers, Elmer Nelson, Des Moines, John Nelson, Eagle Grove; one sister, Mrs. Pete Nelson, Eagle Grove; two grandsons and three granddaughters. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bjornson was a member of the Baptist Church at Goldfield until its dissolution, and since that time has been affiliated with the United Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the DOC
Neighborhood Club.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at l:30 p.m. in the United Presbyterian Church at Goldfield with the Rev. Frank Elliott officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield.
