October 23, 1885 --- December 24, 1957

Mrs. Alta Sawin Brouhard, 72, 619 7th St., died about 5 p.m. Tuesday at Mary Greeley Hospital where she had been a patient for the past 7 weeks. She had been in ill health for the past two years.

Born in Illinois, she came to Ames in 1912. She had been a dressmaker her for many years.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S., the Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Rebekah Lodge.

She and Frank Sawin were married in 1905. He preceded her in death in 1937.

In 1941, she and O. J. Brouhard were married. He survives, in addition to a son, Dr. John F. Sawin of San Carlos, Calif., three grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Florence Hochstadter, Chicago, Ill.

Funeral Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the chapel of the Adams Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Pinnell, pastor of the First Methodist Chruch, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. A. E. Wilken, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Members of the Rebekah Lodge will participate in the services.

Burial will be at Goldfield.
