AL Xanders, 82, Succumbs Friday

Funeral services for AL Xanders, 82, were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Christian church at Goldfield with burial in the Goldfield cemetery. In charge was the Kastler funeral home of Eagle Grove.

Mr. Xanders died Friday at the Minor nursing home in Eagle Grove. His wife preceded him in death. Surviving are two daughters and four sons: Mrs. Lester Askvig, Mrs. Ralph Morrow, Woodrow Xanders and Glen Xanders, all of Eagle Grove; Edgar Xanders of Clarion, and Clarence Xanders of Goldfield.

AL Xanders Rites In Goldfield Church
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Christian church in Goldfield, for AL Xanders, 82, who died Aug 6th. Mr. Xanders had a brief illness and was cared for at the Minor Nursing home during his last illness.

He is survived by six children, Mrs. Ralph Morrow, Mrs. Lester Askvig, Glen and Woodrow Xanders of Eagle Grove; Edgar Xanders of Clarion and Clarence Xanders of Renwick.

Mr. Xanders had made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morrow for the past eight years, and previously lived near Goldfield.

Rev. Clifford Brooks had charge of the services and interment was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Casketbearers were Orville Larson, Clarence Larson, Harlan Larson, Orvel Griffith, Kenneth Whyte and Robert Whyte of Goldfield.

Out of town friends and relatives who attended the services of Mr. Xanders were: Mr. and Mrs. Dorus Myers, Maxwell, Ia., Mrs. Ella Spurling, Mrs. Francis Gard, Marilyn and Richard, Early; Mrs. Iva Stevens, Sac City; Mrs. Arnold Schrooten, Odebolt; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Xanders, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Schultz, Renwick; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Xanders, Evelyn and Erma, Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. Vince Hoffman, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Morrow, Waterloo.

Obituary
AL Xanders was born in West Salem, Illinois on September 6, 1871 to Jake and Rachel Xanders. He passed away at the Minor Nursing home on August 6, 1954, after a brief illness, at the age of 82 years and 11 months. He has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ralph Morrow for the past eight years, having retired from farming north of Goldfield in 1946. He was married to Hannah Rehr on March 21, 1894. To this union seven children were born: three girls and four boys: Ora, Mrs. Ralph Morrow; Carrie, Mrs. Lester Askvig, both of Eagle Grove; Clarence of Renwick; Edgar of Clarion, Glen and Woodrow of Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his daughter Opal, Mrs. Emil Hansen, July 30, 1924 and his wife Hannah, who passed away March 4, 1942, also his father, mother, two sisters and two brothers. Surviving Mr. Xanders are six children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, two brothers, Doc and Joe of California.

Mr. Xanders was a member of the United Brethren Church in West Salem, Ill. He will be gratefully remembered by his children, relatives and friends.
