Rudolph "Rudy" Osmund Amosson was born May 17, 1916, the son of Osmund and Sadie Weland Amosson at Hardy. He received his education in rural country school near Hardy and graduated from Goldfield High School in 1935. He was united in marriage to Marian McGowan of Renwick on February 14, 1940 on a farm near Goldfield. The couple farmed near Dows until 1946 when they moved to a farm north of Goldfield. In 1950, the couple moved into the house in which they were married. They have lived there since that time.

Amosson spent most of his working life on the farm having owned and operated the largest horse farm west of the Mississippi River. He was a salesman for the Electrolux Vacuum Company for 20 years and was awarded the outstanding sales achievement award. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield.

Rudolph (Rudy) O. Amosson died at his residence from an extended illness on Monday evening, April 25, 1994, at the age of 77 years, 11 months, and eight days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother; and sister, Stella Matson. He is survived by his wife; son, Randy of Muscatine; daughters, Roberta Williams of Spirit Lake, Janet Tjaden of Bennett, and Judy Gleason of Denver; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, June Orens of Seattle, Wash., and Olga McCormick of Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 28 at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. The Rev. Nadim Saikaly officiated at the 11 a.m. service. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Willim Funeral Homes, Clarion, Eagle Grove, and Latimer, was in charge of the arrangements.
