Jess R. Agard was born May 13, 1889 at Goldfield to George and Myra Benedict Agard. He died at Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge, on February 19, 1970 after reaching the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 6 days.

Mr. Agard was a veteran of World War I, serving in the army. He was married to Goldie Hedrick on June 30, 1928 at Eldora. He had been retired from the carpentry trade for several years.

Those who mourn his departure are his wife Goldie; one son, Roger W. Agard of Bethalto, Ill.; four daughters: Mrs. Duane Harris, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Sam Jergenson, Goldfield; Mrs. Clarence McIntosh, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Mrs. Mary Newsome, Fort Dodge; three sisters: Mrs. Roy Neimers, Hampton; Mrs. Alice Richardson, Blue Earth, Minn.; and Mrs. Joseph Pardun, Florida; one brother, B. W. Agard, Washington State and 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Feb. 21, 1970 at 2:00 in the Wilson Funeral Home in Eagle Grove; Pastor H. W. Schiller. Internment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
