John McCutcheon, 95, died Wednesday, April 18 at Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge, following an illness of several years.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Frank Elliott officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery.

Among the survivors are three sons and three daughters, Leonard, Lawrence and Donald of Goldfield; Mrs. Carl Lewis, Webster City; Mrs. Harry Heslop, Ames; and Mrs. Harry Crovisier, Thor.

He is also survived by a brother, Wm. McCutcheon, and four sisters, Mrs. Martine [Martha] Pardun, Clarion; Mrs. Luella Axon, Mrs. Bessie Trotter, Goldfield; and Mrs. Mary Bjornson, Corwith.

Obituary

John McCutcheon, son of William and Martha Stevenson McCutcheon was born Jan. 11, 1878, at Traer. He came to Goldfield with his parents in 1882, where he was reared and educated. He was united in marriage to Iva Helmer on Dec. 25, 1900, and spent his entire life farming in this community. He died at Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge on Wednesday, April 18, 1973, at the age of 95 years, three months and seven days. He had been in ill health for several years.

He is survived by three sons and three daughters: Leonard, Lawrence and Donald all of Goldfield; Vera, Mrs. Carl Lewis, Webster City; Marian, Mrs. Harry Heslop, Ames; Verla, Mrs. Harry Crovisier, Thor. Also one brother, William E. McCutcheon of Goldfield and four sisters: Mrs. Martina [Martha] Pardun, Clarion; Mrs. Luella Axon and Mrs. Bessie Trotter, Goldfield; and Mrs. Mary Bjornson, Corwith; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Walter, his parents, one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield Saturday, April 21, at 2 p.m. Rev. Frank Elliott officiated and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
