R. PAULING DIED SUDDENLY TUESDAY EVE.
Eagle Grove Painter, ill but Two Hours. Died of Heart Failure at 10 O'clock Tuesday Evening

Richard Pauling, 47, died of heart failure at his home on Northeast 1st Street, Tuesday evening, Jan. 21 at 10 o'clock. Earlier in the evening he complained of severe pains in his shoulder and called a doctor. The pains seemed to leave him, but at 10 o'clock, his heart stopped beating with hardly any warning.

Mr. Pauling is survived by his wife and five daughters. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Pauling of this city. Funeral services had not been arranged at the time of going to press, the date depending on getting into communication with Mrs. Pauling's brothers, one of whom is in the navy on the east coast and the other living somewhere in Nebraska.

The sympathy of everybody is extended the stricken family.

The Richard Pauling funeral will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at the Sacred Heart Church.

Richard Pauling was born April 20, 1882 and died at the age of 47 years, nine months and one day. He was born in Monee, Ill., and spent most of his early life in Minnesota where he received his education. He attended and graduated from Mankato College. In 1906 he started in business as a painter and decorator which profession he followed all his life. In 1908 he came to Eagle Grove with his parents. In 1910 he married Eleanor Morse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Morse. To this union four daughters were born, Madella, Theresa, Evelyn and Elinor.

For the past year, following a siege of influenza, he has been in ill health. Never complaining, his condition seemed not serious, his death following an attack of Angina Pectoris, came as a terrible shock to his family and friends.

Mr. Pauling was a loving and dutiful son, a kind and loving husband and father. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, and four daughters, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Pauling, four sisters, Mrs. Arch McPhee of Kellogg, Ia., Mrs. Bert Hill of Colfax, Mrs. George Hupe of Chicago and Norma Pauling of Chicago.

Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart church, Friday morning. Interment was made at Calvary cemetery.
