December 10, 1952 ---- December 15, 2019

Christopher John Schmidt, 67, of Evans, Colorado passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at his home.

He was born Dec. 10, 1952, in Mason City, Iowa to John Adam and Elaine Ione (Brozik) Schmidt. He grew up in Clarion, Iowa and later moved to Crete, Nebraska and later Liberal, Kansas where he graduated from high school. Chris met Kandye Sue Ruzicka and they were married on Aug. 1, 1975, in Liberal, Kan.

They moved from Wichita, Kan. where he worked as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for 17 years and then transitioned to Information Technology and worked at NCMC for nearly 40 years.

He served as a Scout Master to the Boy Scouts, played guitar and enjoyed brewing beer. In his earlier years, he also hunted and did auto bodywork, more notably on a 1955 Crown Victoria with his brother-in-law. They were members of Saint Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Katie Schmidt (companion Brian Ginoza) of Littleton; brother, Robert “Bob” (Joley) Schmidt of Durango; and schnauzer, Elsa. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son, Nicholas.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019, at Adamson with Recitation of the Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, at Saint Mary Catholic Church with reception to follow at Adamson.
