Lola May Kuehnast, 101, of Hum­boldt, Iowa passed away Fri­day, Dec­ember 20, 2019 at the Hum­boldt North Care Cen­ter. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26th at Zion Lutheran Church, Humboldt. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, near Thor. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.

Lola is survived by her husband Leo, daughter Diane Koch of Humboldt, grandson Troy Wohlers of Des Moines, great-grandchildren Jenna Wohlers of Madison, AL, Joseph Wendel of Olathe, KS, and Megan Wendel of Overland, KS, great-great-grandchildren Kaden Clark, Aubree Brons and Tyson Wendel, sister Mina (Nathan) Johnson of Sycamore, IL, sister-in-law, Lorraine Rhodes of Fort Dodge, cousin Margaret McDowell of Marshalltown, IA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Abner and Ethal (Blanton) Rhodes, daughter Linda May Kuehnast, grandson, Trevor Wohlers, sons-in-law, Robert Wohlers and James Koch, brother Dale (Wilma) Rhodes; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie (Roy) Kuehnast and Doris (Orville) Knutson.

Lola May Rhodes was born February 10, 1918 in rural Gilmore City, Humboldt County, Iowa. As the oldest of five siblings she attended rural Humboldt school until the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Leo Kuehnast on October 1, 1944. Lola worked at the Coast to Coast Store in Humboldt and helped farm on their century farm with her husband. She was a volunteer at her church, Zion Lutheran and was a Beaver Wide Awake Leader for 10 years. Lola enjoyed sewing and needle work, baking cinnamon rolls and pies, and playing cards in card club. She bowled in league, liked to fish with family and friends and visit fairs and events. Lola loved animals and would raise abandoned farm animals and birds, especially cockatoos at home.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
