Dr. Victor Lenher, prominent physician and authority in chemistry, died Sunday at his home in Madison, Wis., according to word received by his sister, Miss Elsie Lenher, of Mechanicsburg. Doctor Lenher was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Lenher, of Mechanicsburg. He is survived by his widow and two sons, George, an artist, and Samuel, now doing research work in chemistry at the University of Berlin, and two sisters, who reside in Mechanicsburg, Miss Elsie Lenher and Miss Mary lenher. The early boyhood days of Doctor Lenher were spent in Mechanicsburg, although he was born in Belmond, Ia. He was graduated from the Mechanicsburg schools and from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a foremost chemist of the country and had served as a consulting chemist for the United States War Department. He had written a number of books on chemistry and had translated others. His death followed an illness covering six months, which was caused by poison from gases suffered during experimental work. At the time of his death and for many years he had been head of a chemical department of the University of Wisconsin.
