Funeral services for Mrs. Emily Olson Mason, who passed away at the home of her niece, Mrs. L. O. Peterson, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1939, were held at the Kubitschek and Kastler funeral home on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with Rev. A. S. Kilbourn officiating. Three solos were sung by the Open Bible pastor, Rev. Peggy King. Burial was in the family lot at Rose Hill cemetery.

She was born in Tjotte, Norway, the daughter of Ole and Elsie Olson on July 1, 1864. Her age was at the time of her death, 75 years, 3 months and 16 days. She came to America in 1890. On October 9, 1904, she was united in marriage to Joseph Mason at Gifford. He preceded her in death passing away April 17, 1931, at Eldora. Immediately afterward, she came to Eagle Grove and made her home alternately with her nieces, Mrs. Esther Gunderson and Mrs. L. O. Peterson, until the time of her death.

Besides her nieces, she is survived by a brother and two sisters in Norway, she being the last of the five brothers and sisters that came to America. There are also five nephews, who make their home in Seattle. A brother-in-law, H. N. Roseland, resides in Eagle Grove. A step-daughter, Mrs. Lura Vinton of Eldora was present at the funeral.

She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in Norway. In late years, both at Eldora and Eagle Grove, she was interested in the work of Jehovah's Witnesses.
