Was Born at Whitten December 19, 1855

Funeral services for Joseph A. Mason, 76, were held at Lawn Hill Monday morning, and at Eagle Grove where burial took place, at 2 p.m.

Mr. Mason was born near Whitten Dec. 19, 1855, and died at his farm home near Eldora Friday. He was married to Eva Adams in 1880, and to this union were born five children — four girls and one boy. They are: Mrs. Laura Vinton, Eldora; P. J. Mason, Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. Pearl Brock, Chicago; Mrs. Grace Warner, Ogden, Utah, who died four years ago. Another child, Margaret, died in infancy. After the death of the first Mrs. Mason, Mr. Mason was married to Emily Olson Oct. 9, 1904.

Mr. Mason spent the early part of his life on the farm, later learning the milling business and operating mills at Steamboat Rock and at Araphoe, Neb. He later went to McCook, Neb., and then came back to Hardin county, settling on a small farm near Eldora where he lived until his death.
