Lars P. Moss dies in Clarion Saturday
Lars P. Moss, 90, died Saturday at the Clarion Community Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Clarion, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Survivors include daughters: Mrs. Norris Skadburg, Goldfield, and Mrs. Mildred Edwards, Clarion; sons: Olaf and Martin, both of Clarion; Orville, Eagle Grove, and Harold, Webster City; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Mrs. Vincent Hansen, Clarion; one step-grandson; and three sisters, all of Norway.

Mr. Moss was born in Norway and moved to Story County at age 25. He married Marie Haugland in 1912 at Huxley where the couple lived until moving to a farm northwest of Clarion in 1918. She died in 1943. He married Florence Healey in 1945 at Clarion. The couple moved into Clarion in 1946. She died earlier this year.

Lars P. Moss, son of Peter and Martha Iverson Moss, was born June 17, 1886 in Hardanger, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in the Olve Lutheran Church in Norway. He was also educated in Norway. He came to America on September 21, 1909 at the age of 25 years and settled in Story County, Iowa. On November 26, 1912 he married Marie Haugland in Huxley, Iowa. They later moved to Wright County. Born to this union were seven children: Palmer (deceased), Olaf of Clarion, Martin of Clarion, Esther (Mrs. Norris Skadburg) of Goldfield, Mrs. Mildred Edwards of Clarion, Orville of Eagle Grove, and Harold of Webster City. His wife, Marie, preceded him in death in 1943. He later married Florence Healey on June 24, 1945 in Clarion, Iowa. He farmed until the spring of 1946. They then moved to Clarion where they made their home for 29 years.

Florence preceded him in death March 26, 1977. He died Saturday, June 4 in the Clarion Memorial Hospital at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 18 days after a short illness. He also was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one son and one grandson. He is survived by four sons and two daughters, three sisters in Norway, twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, one step-daughter Gladys (Mrs. Vincent Hansen, Sr.) of Clarion, one step-grandson, Vincent Hansen, Jr. of Lindenhurst, Ill. and two step great-granddaughters.

Funeral services were held for Lars Moss at the First Lutheran Church, Clarion, on Tuesday, June 7, at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Oliver Johnson officiated.
