Frederick Harry Allen
31 August 1921 ---- 28 October 1981Frederick Harry Allen, the son of Fred and Grace Mickelson Allen, was born on August 31, 1921 in Troy Township, Wright County, Eagle Grove, Iowa. He grew up in Troy Township and attended the Eagle Grove schools. He was united in marriage with Shirley Snyder on June 10, 1944 at Eagle Grove. To this union were born two sons, Terry and Greg. The family lived and farmed south of Eagle Grove, and later moved into Eagle Grove. Harry continued to be active in farming and was employed on a part-time basis at TVIQ. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, was a member and past master of the Bower Masonic Lodge of Eagle Grove and was a member of the Sky Warn and Disaster teams in the Eagle Grove and Wright County areas.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his sons, Terry of rural Eagle Grove; Greg of Onawa, Iowa; three grandchildren, Lisa, Jason, and Brandon; his sister, Mrs. Lucille Bernard of Eagle Grove; his brother, Arley Allen of Clear Lake, Iowa and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Fisher.
Harry Allen died at his home in Eagle Grove on Wednesday evening, Oct. 28, 1981 after suffering a heart attack. He attained the age of 60 years, 1 month and 27 days.
Funeral services for F. Harry Allen were held on Saturday, Oct. 31, 1981 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Don Callen officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Public Masonic services were held on Friday evening at 8 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home by the officers and members of the Bower Masonic Lodge.
