Shirley Joyce Snyder Allen
26 July 1926 ---- 11 January 1996

Shirley Joyce Snyder was born on July 26, 1926, the daughter of Harry and Metta Rounds Snyder at Eagle Grove. She received her education in the Eagle Grove School System and graduated from Eagle Grove High School. She was united in marriage to Frederick Harry Allen on June 16, 1944, in the Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. The couple farmed the Allen family farm in Troy Township near Eagle Grove. They moved into Eagle Grove in the 1970's. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove.

Shirley Joyce Allen died in her home on Thursday, January 11, 1996. She had attained the age of 69 years, 5 months, and 15 days.

Survivors include her two sons, Gregory Kim Allen, Onawa, Iowa, and Terry Ray Allen, Seguin, Texas; three grandchildren; brother, Harry Snyder and wife Marge, Granger; and two sisters, Elaine Elkin and husband Don, Webster City, and Jean Bilyeu and husband Dean, Algona. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 13, 1996 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with the Reverend Omar Pettersen officiating the 2 p.m. services. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home, Ltd., Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
