Obituary of Geo. Ressinger

George M. Ressinger, son of John A. and Mary Ressinger, was born in Portugal [Port Royal], Juniata county, Pa., on Feb. 12, 1864. Ten years later in 1874 his parents moved to Peoria, Ill., where George grew to manhood. In the spring of 1894 he moved to Goldfield, Iowa, and on Dec. 1, 1894 was married with Miss Mary A. Dougherty of Collinsville, near Williamsport, Pa. They returned to Goldfield and have since that time made it their home. Until on the evening of August 30 he fell asleep and when he awoke it was beyond the life of this world.

I have little need to tell you of his kindness and helpfulness to all who knew him, for you have known him, have felt it, and others have seen it.

Because of distance, not many of the loved ones of his own blood are here today, yet their places are taken by those who thru kindness have come into close relationship with. And now

We can only put by his work and his empty chair.
Fold up the clothes he used to wear;
Let down the curtains and close the door;
He will need the brilliant light no more.
He is strangely quiet, put out the light
And leave him alone—He will sleep tonight.

Services Held For George Ressinger

The death angel was active in this community last week, the last of his calls being at the George Ressinger home. Mr. Ressinger had been bothered with heart disease for over a year, but his almost daily visits to the post office after his mail kept his friends from realizing his serious condition. He always appeared on the street with a smile, and had a good word to speak to young and old alike, but he particularly liked the children.

But on Tuesday of last week his condition grew very serious and by evening his life departed this earth.

Mr. Ressinger had been a hard worker, and always a willing worker, making friends with all with whom he labored. These friends turned out in large numbers at the funeral services which were held at the home Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. M. McCracken of the U. P. church.

The Masonic lodge of Eagle Grove and the Commandery lodge of Clarion, both of which Mr. Ressinger had been a member, had charge of the funeral services at the grave, conducting the beautiful Masonic ritual. The local lodge members were also present at the service. Mr. Worrel of Eagle Grove a past master of that lodge, read the burial ritual at the grave.
