Ray E. Agard funeral today
Funeral services for Ray Eugene Agard, 53, will be held this (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
Mr. Agard died Monday in a motel at Lancaster, Calif. He had been in ill health for some time and was seeking work in a more suitable climate for his health.
He is survived by his wife, who lives in Algona one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Korslund of Huntington Park, Calif., and one son, Lance Corporal Gary Agard USMC, Okinawa.
Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Frank Kingkade of Des Moines, Mrs. J. P. Pantaleone, Seattle, Wash., and six brothers, Burdette, Sioux City; DeVere Toledo, Ohio; Lee, Newton; Wilbur Des Moines; Kenneth, Ames; and Gerald of Chula Vista, Calif.
Mr. Agard was born in Goldfield on Dec. 18, 1914, to parents Mr. and Mrs. Guy Agard. He was educated in the Goldfield schools, and on April 12, 1942 was married to Frances Woodson of Eagle Grove.
They lived in Goldfield and LuVerne, where he was a poultry market owner until last November.
He served in the US Army during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Post at LuVerne.

Ray Agard Found Dead In California
Ray Agard, longtime LuVerne poultry market operator, died suddenly in Lancaster, Calif.
Mr. Agard had left LuVerne last fall after closing his poultry business which he had operated for many years. His body was found in a motel at Lancaster and his wife was notified of his death in Algona Monday night.
Cause and exact time of death was not given. Funeral services are pending on the arrival of the body and a son from Okinawa.
Mr. Agard was to have started on a new job at Lancaster Monday morning. He had left LuVerne for the West in search of a better climate for his health.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter Linda, Mrs. Cecil Korslund of Huntington Park, Calif, and a son Lance Corporal Gary Agard, in the Marines in Okinawa.
The Wilson funeral home of Eagle Grove is in charge of arrangements.

Obituary
Ray Eugene Agard, son of Guy and Alice Hinton Agard, was born December 18, 1914 in Goldfield.
Ray attended the schools in Goldfield.
On April 12, 1942, he was united in marriage to Frances Woodson in Eagle Grove. To this union two children were born.
They made their home in Vincent following their marriage, where Ray was in the Poultry and Hatchery business.
In September of 1942 he entered the U.S. Army and served three years and four months. He was stationed at Camp Hale, Colo. and served one year in Japan.
Following his discharge from service, he purchased a Hatchery in LuVerne where they made their home until last fall. Ray had been out West since that time, seeking employment, in hopes of finding a climate more suitable for his health.
He entered into Eternal Rest in his motel room in Lancaster, Calif., Monday, Feb. 9, 1970. He was 55 years of age at the time of his passing.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, American Legion, and Fire Department in LuVerne. He was preceded in death by his parents and one younger brother.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; one daughter, Linda; Mrs. Cecil Korslund of Huntington Park, Calif.; one son, Gary of the U.S.M.C., Okinawa; six brothers: Burdette, Sioux City; DeVere, Toledo, Ohio; Leo, Newton; Wilbur, Des Moines; Kenneth, Ames; Gerald, Chula Vista, Calif; two sisters: Mrs. Frank Kingkade, Des Moines and Mrs. J. P. Pantaleone, Seattle, Wash.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 12. 1970, at 2:00 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, with Rev. Donald L. Forbes officiating. Interment was held in the family lot in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

Mrs. Clara Polack spent last Thursday in Goldfield and attended the funeral of her nephew Ray Agard.

Ray Agard Of LuVerne Buried Thursday
Funeral services for Ray E. Agard, longtime LuVerne resident, were held Thursday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev. Donald L. Forbes officiated and burial was in the Glenwood cemetery at Goldfield.
Mr. Agard, 55, died suddenly in a Motel at Lancaster, Calif., Monday, Feb. 9. He had gone West after closing his poultry business in LuVerne last fall and was to have started on a new job the day he died.
He was born Dec. 18, 1914 at Goldfield and on April 12, 1942 was married to Frances Woodson at Eagle Grove. They made their home at Vincent for a short time where he was in the poultry and hatchery business.
He served over three years in the Army during World War 2 and was stationed at Camp Hale, Colo, for a time and later served in Japan for a year.
Following discharge, he purchased a hatchery at LuVerne and they made their home there until last fall. He was a member of the Methodist church, the American Legion and was a volunteer fireman at LuVerne for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother.
