James Harold Hallagan
4 September 1914 --- 7 February 1992

James Harold Hallagan was born September 4, 1914, the son of James and Amelia Schmoker Hallagan of Vincent. He attended country school near Vincent, and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Eagle Grove.

He was united in marriage to Mildred De Winter in 1933. She died in 1956. He married Rose Lawrence of Eagle Grove, March 21, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove.

He was employed as a mechanic all of his adult life, being self-employed and working for Larson Chevrolet, Bob Woods Chevrolet, and Christensen Motors, all in Eagle Grove. He retired in 1983.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Harold Hallagan had been in ill health for some time, and died at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, February 7, 1992, at the age of 77 years, five months, and three days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and infant son, James. He is survived by his wife Rose of Eagle Grove; two sons, Carroll, Council Bluffs; and Michael, Summerville, S.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Bjornson, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Kenneth (Jeananne) Schulte, Alleman; and Mrs. Jack (Janelle) Ziegler, Eagle Grove; a sister, Marie Gearhart, Eagle Grove; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held February 10 at the Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Wayne Droessler officiating at the 10:30 a.m. services. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
