Lawrence P. Johnson was born May 24, 1876, near Runne, Bornholm Island, Denmark. His parents were Japen Koffed Johnson and Lena Olson. He came to the United States in 1894 at the age of 18.

He was united in marriage to Ethel Bernice Hann at Goldfield on June 4th, 1902. Mr. Johnson spent nearly all of his life in or around Wright County. He farmed for a number of years and upon retirement moved to his present home in Goldfield where he lived with his son Burvene and his wife, Louise.

Mr. Johnson leaves to mourn his passing, his seven children: Othnel, Grand Rapids, Minn.; Burvene, Goldfield; Norman, Alamogordo, N. M.; Gertrude, (Mrs. Ray Wright) Belmond; Iola, (Mrs. Fred Pogge) Renwick; Lawrence Jr., (Pete) Goldfield; and Harold, (Bud) Minneapolis; one brother, Otto in Denmark; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Preceeding him in death were his parents, wife Bernice who died July 19, 1961, seven brothers and one sister.

Interment was made in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

Goldfield Man

Funeral services for Lawrence Peter Johnson, 87, were held Monday at 2 p. m. in the Kastler Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. The Rev. Benjamin Price, pastor of Goldfield Methodist Church officiated and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

Mr. Johnson died Friday at the home of his son, Burvene Johnson at Goldfield.

Born at Runnabornholm Island, Denmark, he came to Goldfield where he was 18 years old and had resided here ever since. He was a farmer in this area for many years.

His wife, the former Ethel Bernice Hann, preceded him in death. Surviving are seven children: Othnel of Grand Rapids, Minn., Burvene and Lawrence, Jr., of Goldfield, Norman of Alamogordo, N. M., Harold of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Roy Wright of Belmond and Mrs. Fred Pogge of Renwick; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Also surviving is one brother, Otto Johnson of Denmark.
