Funeral services for Kenneth Carlyle Butz were held Saturday afternoon at Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur Anderson officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, and Clarence Schurtz Post No. 304 held graveside military rites.Mr. Butz died June 14 at the Veterans Hospital, Iowa City, where he had been a patient for two weeks. Previously he had been a patient in the Veterans Hospital at Knoxville for 29 years.
He is survived by his wife, who lives in Torrance, Calif., one daughter, Mrs. Frances Asche, in California; one son, Steve of South Sioux City, Neb.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Burdette and Keith; and two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Johnson and Mrs. Phyllis Elwood all of Eagle Grove.
OBITUARY
Kenneth Carlyle Butz, son of John and Maude Kepler Butz, was born March 29, 1910 in Eagle Grove, Iowa where he later attended the public schools. He served in the Army during World War II. He was married to Mariel LaRue in Eagle Grove and to this union two children were born. Kenneth was a laborer in the Eagle Grove area before becoming ill. He had been a patient in the Knoxville Veteran's Hospital 29 years before being transferred to the Veteran's Hospital in Iowa City about two weeks ago, where he passed away Thursday morning, June 14, 1973. He was 63 years, 2 months and 15 days of age at the time of his passing.Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Mariel of Torrance, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Frances Asche of California; one son, Steven of South Sioux City, Nebr.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Burdette and Keith of Eagle Grove; two sisters: Mrs. Bernice Johnson and Mrs. Phyllis Elwood of Eagle Grove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur W. Anderson of the Baptist Church officiating. Interment was held in Rose Hill Cemetery with graveside military rites by American Legion Clarence Schurtz Post No. 304.
