February 23, 1908 -- December 7, 1908

Conrad Sandvig was born Feb. 23, 1908 in Thor, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sandvig. He attended schools here and was graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in music about 1931. He taught music at Mabel, Minn., and Radcliffe, Iowa before moving to Bozeman in 1935, to become music instructor.

Sandvig served as vocal instructor at Montana State College from 1947 to 1955. Early in 1956 he moved to Phoenix where he taught music in the city schools until his recent illness. He was a member of the Bozeman City Band for several years and of the Hope Lutheran church there for 20 years and of Our Savior Lutheran Church at Phoenix.

He married Clara Larson in 1929 while in Iowa. Survivors, in addition to his widow in Phoenix, include a daughter, Mrs. Francis J. (Naomi) Messmer of Bozeman, a son, Mark Sandvig, Phoenix; a brother, Gerhard Sandvig, Eagle Grove, six sisters, Mrs. Marvin Hicks of Chicago and Mrs. Harry Hanson, Mrs, Albert Christopher of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Chester Pearson of Radcliffe, Mrs. Otto Hill of Duncombe also Mrs. Iver Thorsheim of Radcliffe, a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial for Conrad Sandvig, 52, who died yesterday in Good Samaritan Hospital, will be in Bozeman, Mont., his former home, A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary announced.

A native of Vincent, Iowa, Mr. Sandvig came to Phoenix in 1956 from Bozeman. He taught in Bozeman High School and at Montana State College at Bozeman. Here, he taught in the Phoenix elementary schools. He resided at 1043 E. Denton Lane. He is survived by his wife, Clara, a son, Mark, Phoenix; a daughter, Mrs. F. J. Messmer, Bozeman; and six sisters and a brother, all out of state.
