Pioneer Woolstock Woman Dies Thursday
Mrs. Mary Frakes, 82, longtime resident of the Woolstock community, died at 6:30 Thursday, Dec. 15 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marion Hollis, nine miles east of Woolstock. She had been seriously ill the past three months.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 p. m. at the Methodist church in Woolstock. Rev. Leon Wallace officiated and burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery at Fort Dodge.

Mary Louisa Evans, daughter of Penry and Ellen Evans, was born April 19, 1878, on a farm north of Woolstock. She received her elementary schooling in the rural schools of Woolstock township, later attending high school in Webster City and Highland Park college in Des Moines. She taught school in the Woolstock-Eagle Grove area being principal of the Woolstock schools for five years. She was united in marriage Feb. 19, 1905, to Earnest Patrick Frakes and Mr. and Mrs. Frakes farmed in the Woolstock community until 1951, when they retired and moved to Woolstock. Since January of this year she had made her home with her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died Jan. 2. 1960, by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Myrtie Smith of Eagle Grove. Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Marion (Gladys) Hollis of Woolstock, two grandchildren, William Hollis of Munster, Ind., and Carolyn Hollis of Independence, Iowa, one great granddaughter, Gall Lynn Hollis of Munster, two brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Frakes was a member of the Woolstock Methodist church and has taught a Sunday school class for the past 50 years.
