LOIS IRENE COLE
Lois Irene Peterson was born on February 19, 1905, the daughter of Malcolm and Hilma Magnuson Peterson, at Pomeroy. She received her education in the Pomeroy school system. Upon her graduation she entered Grinnell College in Grinnell. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Cole of Eagle Grove on April 16, 1925 at Blue Earth, Minn. The couple made their home in Wells, Minn., before moving to Eagle Grove in 1927.

Mr. Cole operated the Cole Bros. Market with his father and later by himself. He also farmed. They were married 67 years before his death in 1992. Mrs. Cole was a member of the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove, church circle, the Equality Club, Bookworm Club, Antique Group, the Eagle Grove Country Club, and was very active in the Republican Party.

Lois Irene Cole died at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove Thursday, April 8, 1993, at the age of 88 years, one month, and 19 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Jessie Gaedke, and Marie Norris; and two brothers, Paul and John Peterson. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. James (Susan) Sebby of Clarion; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a brother, Willard Peterson of Roseburg, Ore.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 10 at the United Church of Christ with the Rev. Edgar James officiating at the 11 a.m. services. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
