Mary Ann Williams Watkins
6 June 1844 --- 13 Apr 1913

Mary Ann Williams was born in Radnorshire, Wales, June 6th, 1844.

She was married there to Oliver Watkins March 2nd, 1867. In May of the same year they came to the United States and lived at Kenosha, Wisconsin until 1879 when they moved to Wright county, Iowa upon the home farm east of Eagle Grove.

Five children were born to this union, Mrs. Mary Gray of Ceylon, Minn., Mrs. Alice Larick, Eagle Grove, Mrs. Laura Ely, Algona and Alfred Watkins. One died in infancy. Mrs. Watkins had been failing in health for over a year, and died from paralysis Sunday April 13th, 1913, aged 68 years, 10 months and 7 days. Her husband preceded her to the spirit land only a few years ago, and her brother, David Williams, only a few days.

Mrs. Watkins was a member of the Baptist church of Eagle Grove and was a faithful consistent Christian all her life, motherly and ready with sympathetic help for all in need.

The funeral was held at the farm home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. D. P. Odell preaching the sermon and the interment followed in Rose Hill cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the warm sympathy of all in their great sorrow.
