Thomas Lincoln Kershner

Thos. Kershner, a brother of Mrs. John Riley, who made his home with the Riley family on the north side, passed away at 5 o'clock this morning following an extended illness. Death came as a relief from much pain and suffering. The deceased had cancer of the eye and was practically blind. A stroke of apoplexy, followed by paralysis, was sustained by him a fortnight ago and since that time he gradually grow weaker until the end came.

Thomas Lincoln Kershner was a few months over fifty-seven years of age, having been born on Oct. 16th, 1860, in Indiana. His wife passed away in an Independence hospital about two months ago. No children are left. The deceased is survived by four brothers and four sisters, Frank of Goldfield, Jacob of Klemme, James and George of Eugene, Oregon, Mrs. Amanda Blewett of Eugene, Oregon, Mrs. Maude McIntire of Byers, Colorado, Mrs. Sarah Braden of Clinton, Illinois, and Mrs. John Riley of Webster City.

For the past ten months Mr. Kershner had made his home here with his sister, Mrs. Riley and family.

Short funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock tomorrow forenoon from the John Riley home, 715 Odell street, conducted by Dr. R. T. Chipperfield of the Methodist church. The body will be taken to Goldfield at noon and interment made in the cemetery at that place. Goldfield is the old home of the deceased and a brother, Frank Kershner, resides there at the present time. A number of the members of the Kershner family are at rest in the Goldfield cemetery. –Webster City Freeman.

Goldfield

Link Kershner died Sunday at the home of his sister, Mrs. John Riley at Webster City. The remains were brought to Goldfield Tuesday for interment. He formerly lived here and has many friends to mourn his death. He was a brother of our townsman, Frank Kershner.
