Clarence Olson, the son of Martin and Julia (Larson) Olson was born on August 31, 1901 near Thor, Iowa. Clarence attended school near Thor in a country school. He operated a cafe in Kanawha for a while and then moved to Thor where he was engaged in plumbing and farm work. He also was the
caretaker of the Thor Cemetery for a number of years. Clarence served in the U.S Army during World War II.

He was a resident of the Rotary Ann Home for the past two years. Clarence was a member of the Otto Field American Legion Post No. 415 of Livermore. He was a life member of the American Legion.

He died at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove on November 13, 1986 at the age of 85 years, two months and 13 days.

He was preceded in death by five brothers: Theodore, Otto, Melvin, Gerhard, and Lawrence; and three sisters: Clara Larson, Alice Hanson and Lydia Olson who died in infancy.

Funeral services for Clarence Olson, 85, were held Saturday, Nov. 15, 1986 at 2 p.m. in the Ullensvang Lutheran Church at Thor. Pastor John Sersland officiated and burial was in West Ullensvang Cemetery near Thor.
