FORREST H. BENNETT

Forrest H. Bennett, 62, of 1813 Redlands, died Wednesday at 9 p.m. in Milwaukee while en route to visit his son in Detroit.

Mr. Bennet was a realtor, working with several local firms. He was a graduate of Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa, and was a football coach for Tonkawa Junior College In Tonkawa, Okla. for four years before moving to Austin 15 years ago. He was a North Austin Rotary member, and a member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, Iowa, and burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield.

There will be services at the United Presbyterian church by members of the Masonic Lodge, Goldfield.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Harriett Bennett of Austin; one daughter, Mrs. Sharon Meyers of Garland; two sons, Air Force Capt. Forrest H. Bennett Jr., stationed in Omaha, and Richard Bennett of Detroit; two brothers. Charles Bennett of Grand Rapids, and Robert Bennett of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Williams of Guthrie, Okla., and Mrs. Donna Watt of San Diego, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral Held here for Forrest Bennett

Forrest H. Bennett, 62, Austin, Texas, died at Milwaukee, Wisc., Wednesday following a sudden illness. He had been visiting relatives in Goldfield and was en route home following a vacation.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in the United Presbyterian Church, Goldfield with burial in Glenwood Cemetery here.

Surviving are the widow, Harriett; two children, Forrest Jr., Omaha, Neb.; Richard, Detroit, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Meyers, Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Bennett, Lemon Grove, Calif.; Charles, Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Donna Watt, La Mesa, Calif.; and Mrs. Lulu Williams, Guthrie, Okla.

Born and reared in Marshall, Okla., Mr. Bennett graduated from high school there and later from the Iowa State University, Ames. In 1932 he married Harriett Whyte at Goldfield. He was a real estate broker in Austin, Texas, and a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Austin, and the Paradise Masonic Lodge No. 553, Corwith.

Obituary

Forrest H. Bennett died Wednesday, June 10, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, while en route to visit his son, Richard, in Detroit, Michigan. He was accompanied by his wife and sister.

Forrest Hinkle Bennett was born May 27, 1908, in Marshall, Oklahoma, the son of Samuel and Julia Bennett. He graduated from Marshall high school and Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa.

On December 29, 1932, he was united in marriage with Harriett Agnes Whyte. Three children blessed this union: Forrest, Jr., Richard, and Sharon.

After working several years in the vocational agricultural fields, he moved to a farm in the Corwith area. In 1955, they moved to Austin, Texas, where he was an independent realtor and a teacher in the Austin Public Schools.

Mr. Bennett was a member of Paradise Lodge No. 553, Corwith, Iowa, the West Minster Presbyterian Church and the North Austin Rotary, both of Austin, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Harriett, his three children: USAF Capt. Forrest H. Bennett, Jr., Richard Bennett, Sharon Bennett Meyers; and seven grandchildren. Also two sisters: Lula (Mrs. Ralph Williams) Guthrie, Okla.; Donna (Mrs. Perry Watt), San Diego, Calif.; two brothers: Charles, Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Robert, Lemon Grove, Calif. Three brothers and an infant son preceded him in death.

Services were held Saturday afternoon at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield with Rev. Frank Elliott in charge.

Interment was at the Goldfield Glenwood Cemetery.
