Howard Ross Porter
14 August 1920 --- 6 June 1944

Mr. and Mrs. Walter B. Porter received word from the government last week Friday, that their son,
Howard, 23, had been killed in action, June 6th. They were informed that a previous telegram stating that Howard had been slightly wounded and was being cared for in a hospital in England was an error. Memorial services for Cpl. Porter will be held at the Congregational church a week from Sunday.

He was a graduate of the Eagle Grove high school and attended the Junior College. After his enlistment in the army he was assigned to duty in a paratroop division. He had been in England several months prior to the invasion of France.
